Obituary for Abbey Lane Shanahan

Abbey Lane Shanahan, a resident of Milford, passed away July 25, 2012. She was 25 years old.

Born on December 30, 1986 in Denver, Colorado, Abbey was the second child born to parents Paul J. and Roberta L. (nee Hook) Shanahan. Abbey and her big brother Beau were raised in Farmington Hills, Michigan before moving as a family to Milford Twp. in 1994. Abbey was a 2004 graduate of Milford High School where she participated in dance, French Club and the diving team. She continued her studies at Ferris State University where she had been finalizing her business degree.

Abbeys creative talents were evident through her passion for music and movement; she played violin early on and remained active in dance through her life. Paper crafts, especially scrapbooking and card making, were favored by Abbey and treasured by her family and friends. Abbey also enjoyed creativity in the kitchen, most recently baking cookies and cupcakes.

Abbey was very organized. In all of her spaces and places, she maintained the motto a place for everything and everything in its place. She was an avid fan of country music and enjoyed attending concerts like the Downtown Hoedown Festival and had been to nearly every local Kid Rock show. Abbey was never shy about her passions and what she loved was well-known to all who loved her.

Abbey was preceded in death by her grandparents Richard and Patricia Shanahan and Robert and Rosemary Hook.

In addition to her parents, Paul and Roberta Shanahan, Abbey is survived by her brother Beau (Lindsay Mann-Shanahan) Shanahan; aunts and uncles: Michael (Janis) Shanahan, Timothy (Linda) Shanahan, Peter Shanahan, Mark Shanahan, the late Joseph (Julie Ruby) Shanahan, Melinda Beaumont, and Josie Martin; cousins Joshua (Karen), Megan (Josh), Sarah (Tim), Erin (Brad), Christian, Joseph, Kelly, Courtney, Emily, Allison, Jason (Christie), Amanda (Dan) and Amy. Extended family and many dear friends join in mourning her passing and giving thanks to God for her life among them.
