Obituary for Ada Dorothy Johnson

Ada Dorothy Johnson, 93, formerly of Milford, Michigan, Harbor Springs, Michigan and Avon Park, Florida, passed away on April 25, 2015 at Trudy�s Home, a senior residence home in Battle Creek, Michigan.

She was born December 24, 1921, one of nine children, in Hulbert, Michigan to Irene and Stephen Peacock.

Ada married Elwood (Bud) Thornton in Hulbert, in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1955. Together they had three children, Patricia (Penny) DeGarmo, Sharon (Sherry) Miller and Sheldon (Rich) Thornton. Rich passed away in 2011.
In 1959 she married Erwin M. Johnson and lived in Michigan and Florida until his death in 2006. Ada was a Nurse and was an avid reader. She was known for her wonderful cooking, love of bridge and of Family and Church. She also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and her beautiful floral arrangements.

Ada is survived by her daughters, Penny (Pete) DeGarmo of Battle Creek, Michigan, Sherry (Steve) Miller of Hershey, Pennsylvania, her daughter-in-law Janet �Jan� Thornton of Palm Coast, Florida; Erwin�s son, Allan Johnson of Howell, Michigan; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Service from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Doug McMunn to officiate. Friends may visit beginning at 12 Noon. Burial Highland Cemetery.

The family requests donations may be made in Ada�s memory to the United Methodist Church of Harbor Springs, 343 East Main Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740 or to the First United Methodist Church of Avon Park, 200 South Lake Ave., Avon Park. FL 33825.
