Obituary for Allison Anne Bars

Allison Anne Bars, 39, of Milford, Michigan passed away at home on May 7, 2021, after enduring a long-fought battle with a rare form of neuroendocrine disease.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Allison was born on April 5, 1982 to parents Michael L. and Cynthia S. (Needham) Bars.  As a young child, she was a prolific and vivacious early reader with a keen, sharp intellect, and through adulthood became well-versed in the Classics, American and British Literature, and other genres.  By the time she was five, her family knew she would follow in her father’s footsteps and become an attorney.  She graduated from Milford High School in 2000 and was Homecoming Queen, a member of the marching band and the color guard.  She completed her undergraduate education at Oakland University with honors, and later graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 2014 with honors before being sworn into the Michigan Bar on November 17, 2014.  After clerking in Oakland County and interning in Wayne County, she continued her legal career as a skilled prosecutor in Wayne, followed by Livingston County and most recently Eaton County.  Her life’s work was rooted in her conviction of upholding the Rule of Law with fairness and respect to all those involved.  She held a profound love of service and admiration for law enforcement, doggedly pursuing truth and justice in all of her work as a prosecuting attorney.

Her intelligence, wit, and humor charmed all who came in contact with her.  She loved the outdoors and was an enthusiastic rustic camper even at the young age of two.  Her love for cats and dogs provided her a lifetime of furry friends she held dear, always failing to contain herself over the passing pets on Milford's Main Street.

Allison loved her family deeply with limitless affection as a daughter, granddaughter, sister, and aunt; especially her newborn nephew, Michael Gregory.  Despite her worsening medical condition and concerns about COVID-19, she took a lengthy car ride to Washington, DC to meet and hold him for the first time early in 2021.

Allison was known as an independent, strong, confident, and loyal woman, fiercely devoted to her family, friends, and loved ones.  She invested in her faith for strength and grace and long-served the Milford community with a passion for helping others. Allison's life and legacy will endure forever in the hearts and minds of all who she touched.

Blessed daughter of Cynthia S. Bars of Milford, MI and Michael L. Bars (Pam) of Beaufort, SC.  Dearest sister and beloved best friend of Michael J. Bars (Cherie) and adoring aunt of Michael G. Bars, residing in Washington, DC.  Also survived by loving brother Bryan Bars (Kaylan) of Charleston, SC, loving sister Jessica Ritter and nephew Avery Caldwell of Northville, MI, and her protective and ever-boisterous cat, Teddy.  Granddaughter of the late Joseph and Claudia Bars of Farmington, MI, and the late Jack and Leslie Hill of Marthasville, MO.

She is also a cherished niece of numerous aunts and uncles, and a cousin of many.
