Obituary for Andrew Neil Thingstad

My family comes to you with very heavy and sadden hearts to inform you of the unexpected and sudden passing of our Uncle/Brother, Andrew (Andy) Neil Thingstad. Andy went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 28, 2016.

We will truly miss this amazing, kind, thoughtful and loving man. I have never met a more dedicated Detroit Tigers Fan, Lions Fan and Red Wings Fan. He could always tell you when and what time they were playing, who played what year and who was traded to what team and all their stats. He could also tell you every single United States President, their Vice President and the terms they served. He was simply amazing with History information. Andy absolutely loved the Old Westerns. His favorites were Gene Autry, John Wayne, and The Lone Ranger. He also loved The 3 Stoges, Lassie and Old Yeller. He would bring these movies over every Christmas Eve to watch with Tyler. They were movie buds. Now if my brother Cory was in town, Andy would bring his Disney movies to share with him. Andy had 3 restaurants that he liked for us to take him to, Circus Circus, Big Boy's and Klancy's. Andy also cherished his two Parakeets. I remember when he bought his white and blue parakeet. He said, "Heidi, meet angie girl." He loved my mother so much that he named his parakeet after her. Then there was buttercup. She was a very Bright Yellow parakeet. Andy would say, doesn't she just make you feel warm inside and make you smile? You know what, she did. My father (Andy's brother), my husband and Andy enjoyed visits to the Pontiac Flee Market where they would find old western movies, western memorabilia and Detroit Tiger memorabilia. Then the 3 of them would always go out to eat and there were always onion rings involved. (Oh how Andy loved his onion rings and milkshakes) They enjoyed their last trip together (not realizing it would be their last), this past Saturday, August 27th. The 3 of them said it was their best time ever and they found some really good buys.

Our family was blessed that Andy was in the care of the S.A.L. Program. (Supportive Alternative Living). Pat, who owns and runs this program is simply an amazing angel along with her great staff. Thank you guys for helping make Andy's life a beautiful one.
On Thursday, September 1st at Lynch and Sons in Milford we will come together and remember Andy.
R.I.P. Partner, We Love You, Always. #yournumberone
