Obituary for Audrey June Small

Audrey Small, a longtime resident of Milford, passed away in the loving care of her family on December 21, 2016 at the age of 88.

Audrey Small, a longtime resident of the White Lake area, died Wednesday, the 21st of December at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. Born in 1928 in Centralia, Kansas, Audrey was raised in Onaga, Kansas where she graduated with honors from Onaga High School. Audrey met her husband, Duane Small (deceased) in Lawrence, Kansas and were stationed in England shortly after. Their first child, Cindy was born in Swindon, England in 1953. After relocating back to U.S., their second child, Brian, was born in 1955. Audrey and Duane lived in the Milford/Union Lake area over the next 34 years until Duane passed away in 1989. Audrey spent the last 27 years living in the Highland and White Lake areas. Audrey was a very kind and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She tirelessly attended every sporting event, special event, school and family function as she balanced her way through her work and raising a family. Many winter nights she would rush home from work, fix a quick dinner and drive Cindy and Brian to Mt. Brighton to enjoy an evening of downhill skiing. Audrey was quite a bowler and continued to bowl until she was 83. She also took up golf when she turned 60, and enjoyed participating in a ladies league for over 20 years. Audrey had a kind and wonderful smile that would light up a room. She lived life to its fullest, had many loving and loyal family and friends and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by Duane James Small, her beloved husband of 37 years.

Audrey is survived by her children, Cindy (Mike) Gardner and Brian (Rose) Small; grandchildren, Bradley (Cara) Gardner, Brent (fiancé Brittany Acker) Gardner, Ryan (Kasey) Gardner, Steven (Kathleen) Small, Mark Small, and Matthew Small; great-grandchildren, Mason and Brock.
