Obituary for Benjamin Beggs Jones

Benjamin Beggs Jones, age 26 and a resident of Milford, Michigan died suddenly on November 3, 2018. Benjamin courageously lived with the trials of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for many years.

Ben grew up with his brothers, Alex and Ted, and always followed their lead. He was always quick-witted, smart, and happy. He loved being on time and maintaining a regimented daily schedule. He took on the game of hockey like his brothers, and played in the Wheelchair Hockey League. He and Alex also enjoyed attending Muscular Dystrophy Camp at Camp Cavell in Lexington, Michigan where they made many friends over the years. At home, he loved to fill his days with video games, television shows like Practical Jokers and other prank shows, and enjoyed sharing with his family entertaining YouTube videos he found of pranks, cooking, and cute animals. He loved animals, especially his Pugs, Rex and Chewy whom he adored.

Ben always took his battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in stride. He bravely dealt with his health problems and never complained. In fact, he looked at others and recognized that everyone had troubles that they dealt with, and was thankful and happy for the life he had.
In 2000, the Make-A-Wish Foundation made his dream trip come true to the Nintendo US Headquarters in Seattle, Washington. It was a train ride and trip his family will never forget, as Ben and his brothers got to test the brand new Nintendo wireless controllers, tour the company, and travel home with new controllers, games, along with many amazing memories.

Ben had a kind soul and took pride in not swearing, and was ever considerate of others. He loved puns; word-play and his use of old-fashioned vocabulary will forever be fondly remembered. He will be dearly missed by many.

Benjamin is survived by his mother Annette Jones (Rico Sambiagio), and his father Bruce (Jessica Kahn) Jones; his brothers, Theodore Sampson Jones (Melissa Summerfield), Zachary Alden Jones and Noah Dylan Jones; grandparents, Sally and Robert Cockayne and Whipple and Maryann Jones; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, dear friends and many dedicated and loving caregivers, especially Colin Granroth and Denise Adams. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alexander Michael Jones and grandparents, James Dell and Martha C. Brown.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Friday, November 9, from 3-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 10, at 10AM with visitation beginning at 9AM. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made in Ben’s name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
