Obituary for Brian Andrew Pickl

Brian Andrew Pickl - age 47, of Highland, Michigan - May 6, 1974 to January 12, 2022. It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Brian “Pic” Pickl after a courageous battle with Covid-19. He is predeceased by his father Kenneth A. Pickl II, survived by his mother Cherlyn Yaschen and step-father Greg Yaschen; step-mother Margo Pickl; beloved children Ashley, Alivia and Alden Pickl, and siblings Carrie (Carl) McKissic and Maria (Troy) Stieve. He is also mourned in love by his long-term partner Andrea Lupo and her family, as well as his nieces Cassidy, Gabrielle, Emily, and Riley McKissic, nephew Maddax Stieve, Uncle “Skinny” Dennis Pickl; cousin Deborah Huston, and many, many other relatives and friends in Michigan and beyond.

A graduate of Milford High School’s class of 1992, Brian was an accomplished athlete and champion on the cross country field - earning a State Championship title as a Junior and going on to compete on the Michigan State University’s Waterski Team. He graduated from MSU in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in finance and began to pursue a career in the mortgage industry before starting his own business and succeeding as a Real Estate and Mortgage Broker in the Lakes area of Oakland County.
Through all the ups and downs of life and business, Brian never lost his passion and love for all things related to boating and lake-living. He was a life-long fixture on Duck Lake in Highland, MI, as well as Walloon Lake in Petoskey, MI, pushing himself to “rip it” in slalom skiing and wake-surfing despite his many orthopedic surgeons urging him to STOP! His love of the water and boating was joyfully shared with anyone who came to visit, and his infectious smile and energy will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him. He also enjoyed hockey, snowmobiling, motocross, mountain biking, traveling to Florida, and many other outdoor activities.

Brian will mostly be remembered as a loving, generous, and kind-hearted soul who cherished his children and family and put others above himself. He could always be trusted to have a song in his head, of which he would share aloud as lyrics came to him. He made friends wherever he went and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Public visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home - 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, Michigan. Additional visitation will be on Wednesday, January 19th at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Wes Morris to officiate. Brian’s family would also like to encourage those attending to please wear a facial covering. Those not able to attend the service in person will be able participate through a livestream link located on this website.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a trust established on behalf of Brian’s children.
