Obituary for Carl H. Dumas

Carl H. Dumas, a resident of Milford since 1996, died suddenly on Monday, October 25, 2010 of a heart attack. He was 56 years old. Born on May 24, 1954 in Detroit, he was the son of Carl F. and Ruth (Fitzhenry) Dumas. He grew up in Redford Township, graduated from Thurston High School in Redford and then the University of Michigan Dearborn campus.

In 1986 he hired a young designer, Janice Mobley and on June 9, 1989, the two were married in Novi, Michigan. For the last four years Carl, along with his wife Janice, owned and operated Arlington Display Industries of Detroit, a manufacturer of point-of-purchase display venues.
Carl Dumas was a loving man who brought joy to everyone around him. He had a great sense of humor and was passionate about his varied interests including Kiwanis, mentoring Key Clubbers, singing in the choir at St. Joseph Church in South Lyon where he also served on the parish council. He was a great supporter of the Village Fine Arts Association, loved golf and politics and was an avid traveler -- to our national parks and to Europe four times. He especially loved Glacier National Park and traveled to England, Austria, France and Taiwan, Hong Kong and China and Ireland.

Carl is survived by Janice Dumas his beloved wife of 21 years; loving mother, Ruth Dumas; sisters, Mary (Michael) Petlichkoff, Liz (Ron) Ellerbrock, Margie (Lance) Marlin; brothers, Vince Dumas and Ed (Karen) Dumas; 24 nieces & nephews and 8 great nieces & nephews. Also survived by many extended family members and dear friends. Carl is preceded in death by his father, Carl F. Dumas.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 S. Lafayette St., South Lyon, Friday at 11 O�clock. Friends may visit Thursday 3-9 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford. Scripture Service Thursday 7 PM. Memorials may be made to Village of Milford Fine Arts Association, St. Joseph Parish Organ Fund (payable to St. Joseph Parish - Include Organ Fund in Memo of check) and South Lyon Kiwanis Foundation.
