Obituary for Charles R. Baranski

Baranski, Charles R. Chuck, age 74, formerly of Highland, passed away at his home in St. Helen, Michigan on August 19, 2009. Born in Detroit, the son of Mary (Krakowski) and Joseph Baranski, he was one of eight children. Following high school, Chuck served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 on LST 1168. He married Clara Liss on September 13, 1958 and celebrated over fifty years together. Loving father of Steven (Cher) of Howell, Kenneth (d. 1978), Richard (Janette) of Phoenix, AZ, MaryJo of Howell and Judy (Rick) Calhoun of Linden. Also survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family shared homes in Detroit, Highland, and St. Helen. Chuck was a retired journeyman plumber, recognized for his quality work in custom homes. He was an active outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed fly fishing. As a former member of the Detroit Outdoorsmen and Michigan Fly Fishing Club, he was actively involved in youth fishing derbies, young hunters safety training, conservation projects, and offering the chance for kids to enjoy the outdoors. The Detroit Tigers baseball team was by far his favorite professional sports team. He was an avid fan and rarely, if ever, missed a chance to catch a game. Chuck was a tinkerer on his saws and seemed to provide simple, but beautiful projects such as turtle footstools, cutting boards, lawn ornaments, whirley gigs, furniture, signs, birdhouses and the like for all to enjoy.
