Obituary for Charles Timothy Carney

Charles Timothy Carney grew up in Farmington, Michigan, one of three children, born to Charles and Barbara Carney. It was in Junior High School, at the age of 14, that Tim met the young Cheryl Kobman, who would become the love of his life. They were married on January 21, 1978 at Antioch Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills and enjoyed forty one wonderful years together.

Tim loved life and certainly lived life to the fullest. He was passionate about living a healthy life style, being outdoors, golfing, paddle boarding and hunting. Tim and Cheryl were blessed with three children, James, Christine and Michael. Tim’s greatest joy and treasure was his family — he relived his childhood through his children and grandchildren, always interactive, fun loving, and a kid himself.

From a young age, Tim showed a propensity and talent for building and wood working. Following graduation from Farmington High School, he studied construction management at Lawrence Technological University and enjoyed a forty year career as a talented journeyman carpenter and a licensed builder. His greatest pride and joy was the house he built for his family in 1993 in Hartland. He was selfless with his craft and often showed his love and gratitude for his family and friends by giving them one of his lasting gifts: a deck, a sun room, tile work, gazebos and more. Following his retirement in 2012, he continued his carpentry work with his lifelong friend, Kevin Naughton. Tim loved his craft and his badge was his tool belt.

He will be missed by many, especially his beloved wife, Cheryl; his dear children, James and daughter-in-law Natalie, Christine and son-in-law Jasen Rademacher, and Michael and daughter-in-law Hannah; his dear grandchildren, Gracelyn, Luke and Beckett Rademacher and Levi, Adam and Noah Carney; his brother, John and sister-in-law Dianne; his sister, Charlotte and brother-in-law Garry Buffmyer; his in-laws, Don and Virginia Kobman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betsy and Sam Pink; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Sarah Kobman, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and many dear friends.

Memorial visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 4-8 PM and on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4-8 PM.

A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 12701 Highland Rd, Hartland on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 11 AM with The Rev. Denise Russell officiating.
