Obituary for Christine Ann Cothery

Christine Ann Cothery, a resident of White Lake Twp., passed away in the care of her family December 10, 2013 at the age of 56.

Born October 22, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, Chris was the first of five children born to parents Elaine P. (Morgan) and Philip David Head. Her early years were spent in Detroit where she began her life of faith at St. Rita�s Parish. When Chris was twelve years old, her parents and siblings Barbara, David, Bill and Julie moved to a farm in Milford Twp. Christine loved being an older sister to all of her siblings and was active in their care. Through her childhood and early life, Mr. and Mrs. Head instilled a strong tradition of Catholic faith and made their home accordingly. Following her graduation from Milford High School in 1975, Chris continued her studies to earned an Associates degree.

In November of 1976, Chris began working at Reid Glass. It was here that she first met the love of her life, Joel Patrick Cothery. The young couple courted for six years and married in August of 1982. The Cothery�s began their first home in Plymouth where they were blessed by the births of their daughters Jill in 1983, Colleen in 1985, and Katie in 1986. The family moved to Commerce and joined St. Patrick Parish where Chris was active with the Church school where her girls attended. Chris spent the next 30 years deeply devoted to her husband and three girls.
In 2005, Joel and Chris relocated to White Lake to fulfill their dream of living on the water. Chris loved all of nature and remembers falling in love with the beauty of the countryside as a young girl, having come from the city into the open spaces of Milford Township. Likewise, she loved all animals but especially horses and dogs. Chris was a fan of the Detroit sports teams and enjoyed following each team during its season.

In addition to Joel P. Cothery, her beloved husband of 31 years, Chris is survived by her daughters Dr. Jill Cothery, Colleen (Richard) Lyden, Katie Cothery; granddaughters Aubrey and Kayley Lyden; loving mother Elaine (the late Philip) Head; siblings Barbara Gerbensky, David Head, William (Lisa) Head and Julie (Tim) Maltese; her God children Jacob, Shannon, Emily, Douglas and Nicole; also many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Liturgy will be held from St. Patrick Parish of White Lake, 9086 Hutchins St., on Friday at 11 AM with gathering one hour prior. Fr. Thomas Meagher to officiate. Burial All Saints Cemetery, Waterford. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford Wednesday 6-9 PM and Thursday 3-9 PM.
