Obituary for Clarence "Bill" Hubbell

Clarence �Bill� Hubbell, 80, of Petoskey, passed away June 28, 2010, at his home.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church in Harbor Springs. Pastor Kathy Cadarette will officiate. Friends may arrive at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Bill was born March 16, 1930, in Detroit, to George E. and Margaret (Goodson) Hubbell. He grew up in Detroit where he attended school before moving to Milford where he graduated from Milford High School in 1947. He attended University of Michigan where he earned a bachelor�s degree in civil engineering.
On March 28, 1952, he married the former Wanda Elliott in Milford where they made their home.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a partner in the consulting engineering firm of Hubbell, Roth and Clark. He was affiliated with several professional organizations including Associated Underground Contractors and Michigan Society of Registered Land Surveyors.
Bill was an active member of the Emmet County Sportsman�s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cowboy action shooting (where he was referred to as Barleycorn Bill), trap, skeet and five stand shooting.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wanda; son, George �Jed� Hubbell and his wife, Sally, of Milford; daughter, Nancy Foote and her husband, David, of Rockford, Mich.; grandchildren, Erica and Lauren Hubbell, Kathryn Foote Bialkowski and her husband, Steve, and Emily Foote. Also surviving are his brothers, Jim Hubbell and his wife, Dawn, and Pete Hubbell and his friend, Judy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Emmet County Sportsman�s Club.
The family was assisted by Schiller Funeral Home of Harbor Springs.
