Obituary for Clyde E. Dale

Clyde E. Dale, Jr. of Milford passed away peacefully in the care of his family on September 12, 2016. He was 64 years old.

Clyde Edward Dale, Jr. was born in St. Charles Missouri on January 14, 1952 to Catherine and Clyde E. Dale, Sr. He was their first son and one of five children. Throughout his childhood Clyde lived in many cities and states following his father’s Navy career, until finally settling in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He attended Mount Clemens High school where he excelled in swimming, track, and cross country. At the young age of 16, Clyde met the love of his life Shelley Kandt (Dale). They dated throughout high school attending sporting events and proms together. In 1970, Clyde graduated from high-school and moved with his family to Germany leaving Shelley behind.

It was in Germany that he began his career in Audio Visual Sales and Repair. After five years in Germany, Clyde returned to Michigan on vacation and reconnected with Shelley. They eloped 3 weeks later and moved back to Germany to start their new life together. Shelley and Clyde had many adventures, traveling extensively throughout Europe. One of their most memorable trips together was their honeymoon in Greece.

In March of 1979, the young couple was blessed with the birth of their first child Tyler. Shortly after, the couple returned to Michigan in 1980, where they celebrated the birth of their daughter Lindsay. After returning to the states, Clyde continued his career in electronics repair and established his own business in Milford Michigan called QES-Quality Electronic Services. It was not too long after, that Clyde designed and built his home in Milford where he raised his family.
Clyde’s family was everything to him. He spent much of his time attending the kids sporting events and enjoyed leading the Milford Boy Scout Troop. He especially liked the camping adventures in the wilderness and canoe trips. His two grandchildren, Emma and Joseph, were treasures to him and he was filled with joy whenever his family was gathered. His passion of gardening, cooking and making up new recipes, working on projects, building and fixing things, fishing, catching frogs, playing dress up, and his silly sense of humor was infectious and brought great joy to everyone around him.

In 2015, he retired from ABL Electronics and celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary with the love of his life Shelley. After his retirement, he spent much of his time caring for his mother Catherine who lived with them and traveling to see his children and grandchildren. Most recently, he was preparing to downsize, so he and Shelley could relocate to their cottage “Up North” where he spent so much of his time enjoying the wilderness, fishing, bonfires, making snow forts with his grandchildren, building a pole barn with Tyler, tubing down the river, and riding four wheelers in the National Forest.

Clyde’s smile, incredible joy, fun sense of humor, humility, imagination, and deep love for his family and friends will be missed by all. He was an incredible husband, father, brother, uncle, son, friend, and Papa. He fought bravely to stay with us as long as possible and died peacefully with his family present. He took a piece of each of our hearts with him and his life will be celebrated forever.

Clyde is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley; son, Tyler (Mary); daughter, Lindsay (Chris) Phipps; grandchildren, Joseph and Emma; mother, Catherine (the late Clyde E. Dale); siblings, Bruce, Cathleen (Larry) Kacel, Carolyn (Tom) Geddings, Cynthia (Wayne) Lynn, Conrad (Estrella). Also survived by many extended family and dear friends.
