Obituary for Connie Jo Whitefield

Connie Whitefield, a resident of Novi and former resident of Milford, died on February 28, 2015 at the age of 75.

Born in Delray on April 6, 1939, the daughter of George and Clarabelle (Beard) Bakos, Connie grew up in Ecorse, where she was a graduate of Ecorse High School. On August 23, 1958 she married Art Whitefield her high school sweetheart. They lived in Livonia and Troy before settling in Milford where they raised their four boys. During her career as a successful administrative secretary she returned to school and achieved her Bachelor of Administration and was promoted as Perry Drugs Human Resources Manager. Since 1981 Connie and Art have enjoyed their work together as Independent Distributors with the Amway Corporation.

Throughout the years Connie has been a mentor to many -- in business, health and spiritual matters. She was a dedicated believer and daily took time to share with others the faith she enjoyed, the marriage that strengthened her, the cancer she survived, and the many miracles she had experienced in her life. She was ever at work evangelizing others and helping to grow her church family. She was a dedicated wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and an amazing inspiration to everyone in her family. When she was younger, she loved athletic activities including Tennis, Golf and Ping Pong. She loved her daily devotions with the Lord, swimming when the weather allowed, laying in the sun, playing cards with family and friends, traveling, and sharing laughter and just being with Art, the love of her life.

In addition to Art, her beloved husband of fifty-six years, she is survived by her mother, Clara and George Goodling; sons, Derek Whitefield and Gary Dahle, Greg and Debbie Whitefield, Jeff and Theresa Whitefield, and Curt Whitefield; grandchildren, Corinne, Brett, Collier, Taylor, Cailee, Sydney, Colton, Jason, and Bryan; great grandchildren, Nolan, Amanda, Caleb, Grace, Brecken, Elizabeth, Kaylin and many dear friends who join her family in both mourning her passing and giving thanks to God for her life among us.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Wednesday, March 4 from 6-9PM and on Thursday, March 5 from 2-9PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Harvest Christian Church, 24400 W. Seven Mile Road, Detroit, on Friday, March 6, at 11AM with Pastor Bob King officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. Memorials may be made in her name to the family. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
