Obituary for Cynthia Ann Lietz-Manchester

Cynthia Ann Lietz-Manchester, a resident of Highland, died peacefully on October 18, 2018 due to complications of cancer treatments. She was 70 years old.

Cindy was born in Hamtramck on November 16, 1947, the fourth child of six and oldest daughter of Joseph and Albina (nee. Budzinsky) Todd. Cindy grew up in Detroit and graduated from Warren High School. Following High School, Cindy made her home in Sterling Heights, with her husband, Dale Lietz where they raised their two children, Jeff and Judi. In 1991, Cindy and Dennis Manchester both widowed, met and fell in love. They soon married and made their home on Duck Lake in Highland. It was a marriage that blended both families with love and their home on the lake became the place for family gatherings and cookouts.

Cindy was energetic, strong, loving and hardworking. She loved the outdoors, living on the lake, gardening and cooking. Her greatest joy and passion was her family. Cindy was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved nothing more than hosting family gatherings at her house — she always made sure the grandchildren had their favorite dishes and the latest and greatest toys and would spend all day in the kitchen. An avid dog lover, she was devoted to their Golden Retriever, Max, for over fifteen years and was known as the dog whisperer and dog lady around their neighborhood.

A wonderful wife, a loving mother, doting grandmother and wonderful friend, Cindy will be missed by many, especially Dennis, her loving husband of 22 years; her son, Jeff (Jennifer) Lietz; her daughter, Judi (Brian) Empson; step-children, Asanda Prokic, Holly Topness, Keith (Amy) Manchester; grandchildren, Emma and Gwyneth Lietz, Tyler and Mackenzie Empson, Ashley Prokic, Genna Topness, Ashton Manchester; sisters, Sherrie (the late Daniel) Urbin and Deborah Miller, as well as extended family members and friends.
