Daniel “Dan” Morrow Angott, a long time resident of Milford, more formerly of Detroit and Livonia, passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2021, while surrounded by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Campbell. He was 71 years old.
Dan was a creative spirit expressing his talents in music, graphic design and photography. Dan played keyboards and guitar in many bands from his years at Benedictine High School in the Clear Blue Sky up to his fortieth class reunion with members of the original band, The dance floor was filled all night long. A prolific songwriter, Dan told stories with dense lyrics that always got the listener thinking.
Dan combined his talents to create the website 'My First Band' (inspired by Keith Buckley). Contributors and readers alike enjoyed remembering the garage band days of playing at sock hops and frat parties (often before making it big). What really made Dan happy was when he learned many bandmates reconnected while gathering the information for entry on the site.
Dan's knowledge and love of music was nurtured by the family business, Angott Distributing, which supplied Wurlitzer Jukeboxes, records and vending machines throughout the state. While Dan's first job there was on the vending side of the business, he would spend as much time as he could in the record department, soaking up all the new music he could find.
He moved from the family business to managing record stores and on to becoming a record buyer for Joyline Distributing. It was a natural transition to the wholesale video business at Video Trend. The constant influx of new products both in records and videos kept Dan engaged in both careers. This led to impressive, eclectic collections of records and movies. Many treasured and lifelong friendships began during these careers.
More recently, Dan became an avid Facebook contributor. He was especailly
active with music and political posts. Dan helped create the "Pirate Radio" page and found many like minded music fans who became friends as well. Creating memes took up a good portion of his time and was another avenue for his creative energies while also allowing him to express his views on current events.
Throughout these difficult times Dan and Nancy were supported by many caring friends and professionals, including Diane Cangelosi his caregiver, the DaVita Dialysis staff and his transportation team at Total Response EMS. Love and moral support was provided by too many others to adequately acknowledge them all.
Son of the late Carl and Mabel Angott, Daniel is survived by his wife Nancy; siblings, Carl John Angott Jr., and Judith (Dennis) Raimi; brother-in-law, Michael Campbell, sister-in-law, Peggy Campbell; band brothers, Keith Buckley and John Rocco; and also many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
Daniel is also preceded in death by his brother, William Angott; and niece, Jody Orrick.
Family plans to have a gathering in Dan’s name in the imminent future.
