Obituary for David J. Bilyeu

David J. Bilyeu, age 40, passed away on March 31, 2010. David was born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 10, 1969, the youngest son of Vernon and Jean Bilyeu, and grew up in Holly where he graduated from Holly High School. Music carried him out west to the Los Angeles Musicians Institute. Back in Michigan he attended Oakland Community College and Wayne State University where he earned his Degree in Mathematics. David worked as an actuary with PricewaterhouseCoopers and later with Towers Perrin in New York where he worked and lived for eight years. Returning to Michigan two years ago, he began working as a paraprofessional with Oakland Community College.

Throughout his life David surrounded himself with music, using his great singing voice and playing bass in the band Threshold with friends since childhood will forever be cherished memories for all who knew him.

A real ham, David always lit up the room, and even in his last days at the hospital he "held court" to all who entered his domain. He loved researching and obtaining the latest technologies, whether it be the newest t.v., phone, sound system, computer, gaming system or whatever was the newest on the scene. He shared the technology, too. He couldn't see a child not having a gaming system! And of course Marvel comics, especially Superman, another of David's passions.

Generous to those in need, be it helping people in Haiti following the earthquake, locally sending food to people losing jobs, or reaching out to others experiencing tragedy, all were very important to David.

He leaves to cherish his memory family members, Bill Leinenger, Vernon (Alice) Bilyeu, Bonnie (Harry) Manza, Duane (Pat) Bilyeu, Julie (Don) Kaufman, Debbie (Jack) Kerr, Jim (Carol) VanLeuven, Paul (Portia) VanLeuven, several nephews and nieces, and a host of other close relatives and dear friends. David was preceded in death by his mother, Jean, and his brother, Brian.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 Liberty Street, Milford, on Friday, April 2, from 2-9PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 3, at 1PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his name to ASPCA or to Odyssey Hospice. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
