Obituary for David Paul Pietris

David Paul Pietris, a thirteen year resident of Highland, Michigan and a native of New York, died suddenly at home on December 14, 2017. He was 42 years old.

David was born on February 15, 1975 in Queens, New York, one of three children to Marianne Eggers and Peter Pietris. Following graduation from Lindenhurst High School in Long Island, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from St. John’s University in New York. It was at his first big job, working in sales at Johnson & Johnson, where he met Monica Mlynowski. After a brief courtship and long distance dating, the couple married on September 4, 2004 in Cleveland, Ohio and made their home together in Highland, Michigan. They were blessed with their two children, Cole and Emerson.

David was strong willed, protective, loyal and a natural leader. These qualities suited him well in his lifelong work in sales for several businesses, most recently Abbot Laboratories, and also made him an exceptional husband and father, and father figure to many. He adored his children and was ever involved in their activities. In his youth, he was an avid skier, played lacrosse and soccer, and most recently he shared his love of sports with his son, Cole, by making him a batting cage in their basement. David was a very generous and giving go-getter, who always had a positive attitude and outlook on life.

He will be missed by many, especially his loving wife of thirteen years, Monica; his dear son, Cole; his beloved daughter, Emerson; his mother, Marianne Eggers; his sister, Cheryll (Anthony) Serio; his brother, Nicky (Katie); grandfather, Iggi Mangini; uncle, Paul (Janet) Mangini;; brother-in-law, Christopher (Kerry) Mlynowski; nephews, Christopher, Connor, Anthony, Andy; nieces, Karleigh, Kelly, Ellie, Samantha, Sydney, Leigha, and Jamie; great-nephew, Andrew, as well as extended family members and dear friends.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N. Hacker Rd, Howell on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2 PM. Friends may visit the church on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of the mass.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer, 20 York St, New Haven, CT 06510.
