Obituary for DeAnne Louise Maher
DeAnne Louise Maher, 81, of Walled Lake Michigan went home to be with God and Jesus on January 28, 2022. She was born December 3, 1940 in Pontiac, Michigan. DeAnne was an only child and a lifelong resident of Walled Lake.
She graduated from Walled Lake High. Shortly after High School she married her love, James Maher. They went on to have 6 amazing children.
After High School, DeAnne worked at the Walled Lake Medical Center for Dr. Rech. This is where she met her husband, Jim. She then went on to work for Concord Drugs and the City of Walled Lake Police Department in dispatch. She also had many loyal years at Williams International, also in Walled Lake. She then spent the last 25 years as the Manager of Joe Maher Well Drilling.
DeAnne loved her big family; they meant the world to her. When her family expanded to include 8 grandchildren she was over the moon! Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Grandma Dee” and eventually most everyone else did as well.
She loved spending time with her family. She was a veracious reader of many genres of books. There was nothing DeAnne could not make with the ingredients she had in the fridge; she was the best cook. She loved John Denver music and liked dancing when the mood was right. She also loved going to the movies with friends and her grandchildren. She was an All-American woman who loved her country and highly supported the military who serve and served. She loved spending time with her friends playing cards, golfing, gambling, and vacationing.
DeAnne is preceded in death by her husband James J. Maher and her parents Betty and Edward Genack.
She is survived by her 6 children, Mimi Maher, Kris O’Connor (Jim O’Connor), Joe Maher (Teri Maher), Liz Urquhart (Scott Urquhart), Angela Maher and Jimmy Maher (Darcey Maher), also her eight awesome grandchildren, Jack Maher, Nate Maher, Erin O’Connor, Katie O’Connor, Kiley Urquhart, Shelby Urquhart, Drew Maher and Patrick Maher. And also many nieces and nephews as well as friends.
A special thank you to the Providence Park Ascension Hospital in Novi Michigan for their care and support of our Mom while she was in their care. Their care and compassion were so greatly appreciated by DeAnne, as well as the family.
Visitation will be at the Milford Lynch and Sons Funeral Home at 404 E. Liberty, Milford, MI, 48381 on Saturday February 5, 2022 from 10:30 am until 1:30pm, with the Funeral Service at 1:30pm.
