Obituary for Deborah Jane Kingen

Deborah Jane Kingen, a resident of Northville, died on December 8, 2009. She was 57 years old. Born on February 2, 1952 in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Frank and Rhoda (Glover) Kingen, Debbie grew up in Florida and later Michigan where she graduated from Grand Blanc High School.

Debbie had a natural talent in the kitchen and had been head chef at several restaurants including Macaroni Grill in Ann Arbor and on the Star Clipper Dinner Train in Walled Lake. Her love for food went beyond preparing it in the kitchen, she took great pride in serving her family and friends her favorite dishes like sushi and seafood. She also sold insurance with AIG and the Baker Insurance Agency in Milford. Well versed in politics and current events, she enjoyed discussing politics and watching political pundit shows like Nancy Grace and Glenn Beck on the Fox Network.

Anyone who knew Debbie, knew she was an animal lover. Although her six dogs were her constant companions, anything that had feathers, fur or 4 legs would soon come under her care. Her warmth and generous spirit rarely shone brighter than in the company of her beloved animals. She was also a great lover of music; our memories of Debbie will forever be accompanied by a soundtrack including The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Doors, Jim Morrison, James Taylor, Cheryl Crow and Alanis Morrissette. Her many interests kept her busy but her true passion was her family. Debbies grandchildren, as well as Georgettes family and grandchildren, were the light of her life and the source of her greatest joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Karre Jennifer Kern; son, Dustin Kingen; grandchildren, Quillan & Quincy; siblings, John (Judy) Kingen, Dianne Gannon, Jack (Julie) Kingen, Dan (Brenda) Kingen, Marcia (Rick) Sargent, Bill Kingen; her extended family, Georgette Beverly, Sarah Hahn, Jill Sadler; she was Grannie K to Charlotte & Riley, leaves her dear friend Edna Baalaer and many other dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Sunday, Dec. 13th, at 2PM with Pastor Mark Kingen officiating. Friends may visit Saturday 2-9PM. Memorials may be made in her name to ASPCA. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
