Obituary for Dennis E. Behring

Dennis E. Behring, of Milford and formerly a resident of Livonia, died on March 27, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 26, 1944, Dennis was the oldest child of three, raised by Jane (nee. Carter) and Gerd “Ed” Kruger. Following graduation from Thurston High School in 1963, Dennis enlisted with the United States Army and and served three tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart. In the summer of 1969 at a motorcycle race, Dennis met the young Christine Boyd, who would become the love of his life. After a short courtship, the couple married on December 26, 1969 in Livonia. For over thirty five years, Dennis worked with Ford Motor Company and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Together, Dennis and Christine raised their family of four children in Farmington Hills and Livonia and in recent years were able able to enjoy the blessings of two grandchildren. After retirement, in 2005, Dennis and Christine were delighted to move to their farm in Milford. Dennis cherished the time on the farm and spent most of his days keeping busy and caring for his much loved German Shepherd dogs, horses, goats and alpacas (in which he affectionately called “his babies”). When he wasn’t off riding the horses or working in the yard, Dennis loved to watch and keep up with his favorite Detroit sport teams, the Lions and the Tigers. A people person at heart, Dennis could quickly make a stranger into a friend through conversation. Dennis’ love of life, quick wit and funny nature will be missed by many and cherished by all.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Christine Behring; four children, Eric (Marti); Dan (Krystal), Rachel and Nicholas; grandchildren, Marshall and Erica; sister, Cheryl McBroom; brother, Kurt Kruger and many dear extended family members and friends.
