Obituary for Dennis Whitcomb Gilbo

Dennis Whitcomb Gilbo, a resident of Plymouth, died on May 22, 2014 at the age of 63.
He was born in Saginaw on October 15, 1950, the son of DeMotte Gilbo, Jr. and Ione Jean Hershberger Gilbo, and grew up in Royal Oak.

In 1972 at Wayne State University in Detroit, he met Janet Gostomski who was immediately taken by his charm and poetry. They quickly fell in love and married on July 1, 1988 and made their home in Plymouth. Throughout his life Dennis enjoyed a variety of literary interests, especially the classics, Shakespeare, history, Greek mythology, Japanese Haiku, poetry, Zen in English literature, and the Bible.

In addition to his beloved Janet, he leaves sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalie (Frank) Tislerics, Joanna (Tim) Seitz, Gerry (Linda) Gostomski and MaryAnn (the late Raymond) Gostomski. Dear uncle of Holly, Amy, Paula, Ati, Elena, Shelly, Donald, Gretchen, Rachel, Sarah, Jennifer, and Andrea and great-uncle of Mitchell, Stephen, Zoe, Noah, Natalie, Rowen, Kenzie Ray, Mason and Jimmy.


Mr. Gilbo was buried in Paint Creek Cemetery in Oakland Township, Michigan.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd, in Canton, Michigan on Saturday, June 7th, at 12 Noon. Memorials may be made in his name to Right to Life - Lifespan, St. Vincent dePaul at St John Neumann or to the Solanus Casey Center.
