Obituary for Diane Cook Klarich

Diane Cook Klarich of White Lake, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2020 at the age of 81.

Diane was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 21, 1939 to parents Clarence and Libby (nee. Bernasek) Cook. She received her Bachelor Degree and Master of Science degree in education from Michigan State University. She also obtained a Master Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Diane was a dedicated, loved and well respected teacher for 25 years. Diane coached volleyball in the Huron Valley and West Bloomfield school districts until the Fall of 2020. She also sponsored a ski club at Alpine Valley for students from Highland and White Lake Junior High School.

She was very active and enjoyed volleyball, hiking, biking, downhill skiing and world travel. Diane played volleyball and competed in the Huntsman Senior World Games for over 15 years until the age of 79. Together with John she visited 57 of the 62 National Parks. Diane was a member of the Michigan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society.

She is survived by her beloved husband John of over 59 years; children, Mark (Kyle) and Kenneth; grandchildren, Kathren, Amelia, Ella and Matthew; sister, Joy (the late Leonard) Mershimer and many extended family members and dear friends.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Libby and her niece, Kathleen Mershimer.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Highland Congregational Church, 1605 N. Hickory Ridge Rd., Highland, MI 48357 or to a National Park of Choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 22, 2021 at Highland Congregational Church.
