Obituary for Dianne Margaret Cowen

Dianne Margaret Cowen was born Aug 7, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Rudolph and Mayme Mattson Pozek, died on Tuesday, Sept 8, 2020 from complications associated with heart failure after a five month long battle.

Her family moved to Dearborn when she was in grade school and graduated from Edsel Ford H.S. in 1970. She attended Wayne State University in Detroit, pursuing an BFA where she studied drawing, painting and sculpting. She was married on Sep 22, 1972 in Detroit to Philip A. Cowen. They took classes together at Wayne State and she dropped out in her senior year to become a mother and homemaker. She still painted and drew when she had the time and after moving to White Lake in 1989, joined the Milford Village Fine Arts Association where she exhibited in local shows and enjoyed the company of fellow artists.

Dianne was quite an athlete in her youth and really enjoyed teaching and practicing with her sons in their various sports such as baseball and football.

She became a serious genealogist tracing her grandparents families on her paternal side in Slovenia and maternal side in Finland where she connected with distant cousins on both sides of her family, building a family tree of over 16,000 people.

She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother Donald who died in 2015. She is survived by her husband Philip and four sons, Nathan (Jennifer), Dustin, Joshua (Melissa) and Matt (Livy), four grandchildren: Olivia, Dillan, Elyse and Reid, her two sisters Debbie Christensen and Darlene (Jordan) Truman, brother David Pozek and many nephews and nieces.
