Obituary for Donald Ernest McGeachy

McGeachy, Donald Ernest of Commerce Twp., passed away suddenly and peacefully in his sleep at home on September 18, 2015. He was 78 years old.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Madelyn; loving daughter, Joellyn; dear sister Judy (Mickey) Ions; nephew Mike (Colleen) Ions; nieces Kelly Allison and Kris (James) Rolfs. Also survived by many extended family and dear friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Eunice McGeachy and grew up in Ferndale, Michigan. Don and Madelyn were high school sweethearts graduating from Lincoln High School in 1954, and married in 1957. He has lived in Lake Sherwood in Commerce Twp. for nearly 40 years. He led a full life enjoying skiing, golf, sailing, bicycling, working out at the fitness center, and travelling extensively for both work and pleasure. One of Don’s biggest passions was his Corvettes, and he had several throughout his life which combined with his deep passion for driving.

Don was a highly respected and admired employee at Numatics Inc. for over 38 years and retired as Vice President of Engineering. He left an indelible mark on air valve technology and development.

A Celebration of Life will be held at It’s a Matter of Taste, 2323 Union Lake Rd., Commerce Twp., MI on Thursday, September 24 at 12:30 pm.
