Obituary for Dorothy L. Booth

Dorothy Lorene Booth, a former resident of Brighton and Southfield and native of Detroit, died on August 13, 2014 at the age of 92.

Born on May 26, 1922, the daughter of Ernest and Lorene Lipa, Dorothy grew up in Detroit where she was a graduate of Cooley High School and attended Mercy nursing school.
She married William E. Booth, a Marine pilot, and they raised their family in Southfield. After their children were grown she obtained her realtor�s license and worked alongside her husband at his realty office. She was a past President of the Women�s Auxiliary of the Birmingham Power Squadron, Planning Commissioner for the City of Southfield for many years, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Southfield. In 1990 they moved to Brighton where she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, volunteer at the Brighton Library, and enjoyed sewing and bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and her brother, Chet (Shirley) Lipa.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Al Raddi) Booth, Joan (Fred) Sanborn; her son, Mitch (Paula) Booth; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Matthew Cowell and Andrew (Brittany) Cowell and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held privately. Donations in her memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
