Obituary for Earl Dick Tracy

Earl Richard "Dick" Tracy, a resident of Holland, MI died on Labor Day, September 1, 2008 after a Valiant battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. Born in Detroit on September 22, 1947, he was the second child and first son of Earl and Mary Jane Tracy. He has an older sister, Diane, three younger sisters, Mary Lou, Carol & Linda and a younger brother, John. Dick's Catholic education began at St. Martin School from first and second grade and when his family moved to Royal Oak he went to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs through 8th grade. While there, he excelled in extracurricular activities and sports and was friends with everyone. His education continued at Brother Rice where he was captain of the football team and a member of the 1965 graduating class-the second class to graduate from the new school. He attended Northern Michigan University and has worked as a salesman most recently for Emerald Graphics in Grand Rapids.

Dick loved his big Irish family and was always interested in all that they were doing; helping when they were in trouble and cheering when they succeeded. He was a good friend to his brother-in-laws, Mark Bristol, John Gallagher and Scott McFall and the best uncle possible to his nieces, nephews and their spouses. He was able to see 5 great nieces and 1 great nephew and knew there were two more on the way and was excited to spend time with all of them. His four step-children, Mark Klebba, Lisa (Michael) Daniels, David (Natasha) Klebba and Michael (Beverly) Klebba and seven grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Furline, David Ripley, Heather, Sydney and Haley Miller and Ryan Klebba were his greatest joy! Dick had lived in Holland, Michigan for several years and loved being near the water and the golf courses. He was diagnosed with cancer after taking himself to the hospital two years ago on Labor Day. In addition to his family, he is survived by several dear friends and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

In honor of Dick's strong belief in paying it forward, the charities that were chosen for contributions are:

Hospice of Holland-a wonderful group of people who took care of him and his family the last few months

Special Olympics-an organization that has given great joy to Dick's brother, John.

The Brian McConnell Scholarship Fund-In memory of a young man who died of cancer.
A scholarship awarded to a student at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs so they may attend Brother Rice High School, two schools that were important in Dick's life.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Parish, 9086 Hutchins Rd., White Lake, MI on Friday, September 5th at 11AM. Family & friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, MI on Thursday 3-9PM and at Church on Friday at 10AM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
