Obituary for Eda Erna Zachar

Eda Erna Zachar, a resident of Milford and longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, died peacefully in the care of her family October 31, 2012. She was 92 years old.

Eda was born in Germany on June 10, 1920. One of five children born to Reinhold and Martha (nee Brunst) Minx, she came to America through Ellis Island when she was just five years old. She married Paul Zachar, a fire fighter in Detroit, and after his retirement they moved to Florida. Eda moved back to Michigan, and her beloved Detroit Tigers, soon after Pauls death in 1977. She joined Christ Lutheran Church and for over 30 years shared with her church family the same values she had lovingly instilled in her children- the value of a hard days work, the rewards of community service and the joy of giving from the heart. Eda was generous with her time and affections; kisses and hugs were never in shortage and her thoughtfulness knew no bounds. At every holiday, but especially at Christmas, she was full of love and joy and you could see the spirit of the season reflected in her smile.

Eda was preceded in death by her husband Paul (d. 1977) and is survived by her children Nancy Franz and Gary (Nita) Zachar; grandchildren Todd Franz, Jill Thierot; great-grandchildren Logan, Hayden, Keifer and Lexi and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.

Funeral from Christ Lutheran Church, 620 General Motors Rd., Milford, Saturday, November 3, 11 AM. Pastor Peter Larsen to officiate. Burial Glen Eden Cemetery. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 East Liberty, Milford, Friday 3-9 PM. Memorials may be made to the Church. For further information, please call 248-684-6645.
