Obituary for Edith Elaine Micoff

Edith Elaine Micoff, a resident of Melvin, Michigan, died on March 19, 2021. She was 80 years old.

Elaine, as Edith went by, had a full life and enjoyed every part of it. She was born to Charles and Edith Rew on April 14, 1940 in Collins, Ohio and often joked how she was a tax time baby. She spoke with love about all of her siblings and how much fun they had growing up. She enjoyed following the lives of all of her nieces and nephews as they grew and kept track of all the new family members born to them, often sending them special, hand-made gifts to welcome them. She was very talented at needlepoint and enjoyed giving them away as gifts. You considered yourself lucky to get one! She was also a collector. The object she loved to collect the most of was carousal horses. Elaine had a huge collection of them and could tell you many details of them.

Elaine and Gordon met and were married soon after. Her nickname for him was "Mike" as that was how she was introduced to him. They called many places home, all the way from Marine City, Michigan, to Lakeland, Florida, back to Yale, Michigan and the latest place was Melvin, Michigan. She and Gordon had a soft spot for all the stray cats that would come around, often making sure they had enough food and water. Some even managed to make their way to living inside with them! Later in life, Elaine fell in love with her fur-baby, Buddy. She was known to sneak him treats and he loved to cuddle up with her.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gordon Larry Micoff; siblings, Shirley (J. Walter) Rew-Beil, Harold "Bing" Rew, Richard "Dick" (Sue) Rew, Charlynne (Jim) Rew-Busek, and Londa "Loni" (Hugo) Rew-Rasado; in-laws, Fred "Butch" Micoff, Danny (Margaret) Micoff, and David (Cindy) Micoff; also many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Elaine also leaves her beloved fur-puppy, Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Adelbert and Edith May (nee’ Arnold) Rew; siblings, Leona Rew, Alfred Rew; sister-in-law, Suzanne Rew.

A Memorial Service will be held at Open Door Missionary Church, 770 Sanilac Road, Sandusky, MI 48471, on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 AM with gathering beginning at 10AM.
