Obituary for Edith Mary Geise

Edith Mary Geise passed away on February 14, 2019 in the care of her family at her home in Brighton, Michigan. Edith and her twin sister, Alice, were born in Detroit on September 20. 1941 to William and Irene Dalling.  The family later moved to Dearborn where the girls graduated from Edsel Ford High.

The Dalling's spent Summers at the family cottage at Houghton Lake.
It was there, while working at a soda fountain inside a local drugstore, that Edith met her future husband Dale. As the story goes, Dale, home on leave from the Navy, came in to the drugstore looking for a hangover cure. Edith served him a chocolate milkshake, and the rest, as they say, is history. They were married in 1965 in Dearborn.

Edith and Dale started their life together in Commerce Township in a small house on the Huron River. Needing more space for a growing family, they moved in 1976 to Milford where they raised sons Robert and Mark. When retirement age came around and the boys had moved out of the house, Dale and Edith settled in Brighton.

In her spare time, Edith enjoyed sewing, oil painting and working on other arts-and-crafts projects. Her handiwork can be seen throughout the family home as well as the homes of friends and relatives. She also had a knack for landscaping and took pride in always maintaining a "Better Homes & Gardens" worthy yard.  Edith loved ice cream and each night before bed would indulge in a bowl full of "goodies."

Edith was the quintessential sister, wife, mother and grandmother.  Her character was conservative, but compassionate; understated, but strong. The impact and influence she had on the family will be felt for generations to come.

In addition to Dale, her beloved husband of 53 years, Edith is survived by their children, Robert and Mark (Kristine) Geise; Twin-sister, Alice Dalling; grandchildren, Krista, Bailey, Max, Wilson Geise, and John Michael Ventimiglia; niece, Michele Matheson; and many extended family and dear friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Dalling.

Funeral Service for Edith will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 East Liberty St., Milford, 48381 on Sunday, February 17th, 2019 at 3 O'Clock. Visitation will take place at 12:30 until time of service. Pastor Denise Russell to officiate.
