Obituary for Ellen M. Reed
Ellen Marie Reed, of Milford, died on Monday, October 21, 2013.
Ellen was born on February 2, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Aloysius J. Gerber and Mary Gertrude Hennessey. The family eventually made their home to Detroit and following high school, Ellen began work with the New York Railroad until she met and married John �Bill� W. Reed on June 21, 1952. Ellen and Bill made their home and raised their family in Rochester Hills. Ellen worked as the Treasure of Southfield Township for over 26 years. In 2000, Ellen and Bill moved to Milford and she was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary�s Parish. She treasured her time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her dear husband of 61 years, John W. Reed; sons, John J. and Thomas P. (Patricia); daughter, Nancy (Chet) Korzeniewski; grandchildren, Katie, Ashley, Michael, Lauren and Lia; brother, Joseph (Peg) Gerber; niece, Mary Margaret (Lou) Donato; nephew, Bill (Kathy) Gerber; great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Wednesday, October 23 from 3:30-8 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Snows, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford on Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at 11 AM with gathering beginning at 10:30 AM. Msgr. John Budde to officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Breast Cancer Research Foundation or American Heart Association.
