Obituary for Frances Louise Dorsey

Frances Louise (Dicks) Dorsey went to be with our Lord on May 15, 2020 at the Westlake Care Facility in Commerce, Michigan. Frances would have turned 96 in a few days.

She was born May 23rd, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. She married Leslie T. Dorsey August 11th, 1949 and enjoyed a happy marriage until he passed away December 30th, 2008.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother Richard Dicks.

As a devoted mother her living legacy includes a brother David Dicks of London, Ontario, Canada; step-son, Curtis Jack Dorsey, Kennesaw, Georgia; Paul Leslie (Karen), Warrensburg, Missouri and Carl Theodore (Karen), Commerce, Michigan. She was a loving Grandmother to Danielle, Travis, Sara, Kelly, Kara, Steven, and Melissa. She has 12 great grandchildren and one great -great grandchild.

Frances’ life is marked by devoted service to the Lord in varying capacities as a member of Riverside Chapel (Trumble Avenue Presbyterian Church) in Southfield, Michigan and later she was a member of the Sutton’s Bay Congregational Church. She loved to serve her church families and the communities they supported.

With a strong work ethic Frances was a clerical worker at General Motors before becoming a mother. Later she returned to work at Bowman’s Farm Cupboard in Southfield for many years.

Looking back Frances loved to fish, camp and travel with her family. While she was a snowbird for nearly a decade traveling to Fort Myers in the winter she most loved her cottage where she gardened and swam as long as able.

Due to the current pandemic crisis, we will be announcing a celebration of her life at a later date.
