Frank Sikina, a resident of Milford, MI and former resident of Pittgas, PA, Dearborn, MI, and Bonita Springs, FL died on Saturday, January 2, 2021. He was 88 years old.
Frank had a love and dedication to his family, Florida, and the games of golf and baseball.
He served his country in the Army, and was most proud of his children and grandchildren and
all of their academic and athletic accomplishments. Frank played baseball in the Minor
League System of the Washington Senators in Roanoke Rapids, Virginia, and even spent time in Washington D.C. as a clerk for a Pennsylvania senator at the age 18.
He moved to the Detroit area to work at Ford Motor Company and started as a plant security clerk in the 1950s, where he met his future wife of 63 years, Anna Colarossi. While working, he attended Wayne State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and became the first college graduate in his family. He eventually worked his way up to Purchasing Manager, and spent 30 years working at Ford before retiring. Even in retirement he kept busy by starting his own company, FMS, in the scrap-metal industry.
Frank and Anna, who survives him, enjoyed traveling, and were blessed enough to visit their family birth place of Italy and Slovakia, and spent many vacations in Acapulco, Mexico.
One of his most memorable achievements was shooting two holes-in-one on the 16th hole of the Hunter's Ridge Golf Course in Bonita Springs, Florida, his beloved winter residence. During the summers he would return to Canada Creek Ranch where he spent 7 years building a cabin, which his family still uses to this day. The only thing that would keep him in Michigan through the cold winter conditions in November was his passion for hunting. Between white-tailed deer hunting in Michigan, elk and mule deer hunting in Montana and New Mexico, boar hunting in California, and dove hunting in Mexico he had a wide range of success in a sport he loved. One of his proudest moments as a hunter was when he harvested a 350 class, 6x6 bull elk in the mountains of New Mexico.
He passed on his love for the outdoors, travel, golfing, hunting, and baseball to his children and grandchildren.
His legacy will live on through his sons, Mark (Cindy) and Michael (Melissa), his daughter, Michele (Bill), and his grandchildren Erika, Ty, Anna, Anthoni, and Michael.
A Private Visitation and Memorial Mass will be held at St, Mary's Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Road, Milford, Michigan. The Mass will be livestreamed beginning at 10:45 AM Friday, January 8th, 2021.
