Obituary for Garold M. "Gerry" Stewart

Garold M. Stewart, a resident of West Bloomfield, died on August 3, 2011. One hundred percent Scottish, Gerry was born on November 25, 1929 in Mitchell, South Dakota, one of four children of Albert and Maggie McCaw Stewart. On February 1, 1953, he married the love of his life Beverly Ann Comenole and they are the parents of three children, grandparents of six, and great grandparents of five.

Following his time at Upper Iowa College and Simpson College, Gerry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country in Korea. His career in business was spent as a corporate officer for International Cement Corporation and he retired as Vice President of Sales for Lafarge Cement.

Retirement years were enjoyed at his home in Sun City West, Arizona on the golf course, volunteering at his Episcopal church and absolutely treasuring time together with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to Beverly, his beloved wife of over fifty-eight years, Gerry is survived by his daughters, Tamela Haver and Sharon Ryckman; son, Martin Steward; grandchildren, Jeffery Haver, Michael Haver, Christina Holmes, Dashiell Stewart, Zachary Ryckman, Bennett Ryckman; great grandchildren, Taylor Haver, Emma Joe Haver, Aiden Haver, Kylie Holmes, Bentley Haver.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 East Liberty Street, Milford, on Saturday, August 6, from 3-7PM. A Vigil Service will be held at 6PM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
