Obituary for George L. Schulte

George L. Schulte, a resident of Bancroft, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 after a brief illness. He was 59 years old. Born in Detroit on May 4, 1949, the son of Louis & Jean Schulte, George grew up in Detroit and attended Cody High School. Not yet graduated at the break of the Vietnam War, George began his service to his country with the United States Army, serving two tours of active duty and earning his GED while in the service. He returned home and began his work with Massey Ferguson-Tractor Manufacturers and later found his long time career with Carcoustics Automotive, enjoying his work as a maintenance technician for over seventeen years. On an ordinary night while bowling in Howell, he met the love of his life, Theresa Torode. George & Terry were married on July 11, 1983 and made their home in Bancroft where theyve enjoyed the outdoors, good neighbors and many wonderful friendships.
Georgie-Porgie, as only his mother could get away with calling him, was well known for his tough exterior that sheltered his kind and sensitive heart. He enjoyed being in the yard and keeping busy with projects, including the impressive stonewall he built around his home and wished he could have had the time to work on his newly purchased 73 Mustang. Whether on a hunting trip with buddies or around the table for a reoccurring game of euchre, George found the most joy in any opportunity that brought the people he loved together. The permanent connections he shared with so many were evident in the way he and his family were embraced by neighbors, co-workers and community throughout his battle with Cancer. He was a wonderful husband & father, son & brother. His selfless nature, fun sense of humor and unwavering friendship made the opportunity to have known George forever trump the heavy heart of losing him.
In addition to his beloved wife, Terry (nee Torode) and daughter, Jean (Chad) Williams, George is survived by his parents, Art & Jean LaMoy; sister, Lois Sphor; brothers, Charles R. Shulte, Michael P. Hawley; his dearest grandson, Chad C. Williams Jr. and numerous extended family members and loving friends.

A Funeral Service will be held from Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 404 East Liberty, Milford, Friday, April 10th 12PM. Burial & Military Honors will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Friends may visit on Thursday from 3-9PM. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Vets, Operation Smile or to Hospice of Shiawassee. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
