Obituary for Glenn Donald Tyler

Glenn Donald Tyler, a lifelong resident of Milford, died in Fort Myers, Florida on February 5, 2012. He was 86 years old. Born on October 12, 1925 in Highland Township, Glenn attended Milford High School where he starred on the baseball team and was recruited by the Detroit Tigers, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWII. When he returned from his service in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, he went to work with General Motors. He worked in the accounting department at the Milford Proving Grounds and in later years, served as a recruiter of college engineers for the Grounds. It was at the Proving Grounds that his relationship with Margaret Olzack grew and they were married in St. Marys Catholic Church in Milford in 1948. They were blessed with the births of four children and enjoyed watching their family grow. In retirement he went to work with Kensington Metro Park where he enjoyed doing what he loved most, grounds maintenance. He worked with the park for over twenty years, and when he wasnt there, he was often seen spending time in his own yard which was of the most beautiful around. When he wasnt in his yard he enjoyed listening and watching Tigers baseball, his yearly Winter trips to Florida with his wife, a pilgrimage theyve made for the last forty years, and loving and taking care of his family with all he had.

In addition to Margaret, his beloved wife of over sixty-three years, he is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Richard) Gardner, Carolyn (Gene) Wisniewski, Julie (Douglas) Flees; daughter-in-law, Wanda Tyler, his sister, Shirley (Wilfred) Grondin; grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Gardner, Andrea (Timothy Kyle) Romanuk, Linsay Gardner, Brittney Wisniewski, Jennifer Tyler, Lisa Tyler, Cheryl Tyler, Justin Flees, Morgan Flees; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Mackenzie, Timothy, Kaden and Maesa Rai. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Tyler.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Friday, February 10, at 10AM with Deacon Archie Noon, Chaplain officiating. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Milford Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday 4-8PM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
