Gregory J. Canfield of Milford died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the care of his family after being struck by lightning. He was 51 years old. Born in Wayne, MI on April 28, 1960, he was the son of Howard and Helen (Hurley) Canfield. The family moved to Milford from Livonia was Greg was 7 years old and he went to Milford High School where he met and fell in love with Demi Beagle who he married at St. Mary�s Church in Milford on September 1, 1979. He worked as a Technical Supervisor with Camau-Pico in Novi. He was a hard worker who played hard too � he enjoyed motorcycling with the American Legion Post 216 Riders, travelling on his bike all over the country, playing pool and Texas Hold�em, following the Tigers, the Red Wings and New England Patriots. He always dreamed of being a rock star and especially loved the music of Neal Young and his infectious laugh and outgoing nature made him the life of the party wherever he was. Dearest among his gifts were his wife and kids and extended family which were the center of his life. On their 30th anniversary, Greg and Demi went on an Alaskan cruise and looked forward to many more years of marriage.
Preceded in death by his father, Howard Canfield, he is survived by his beloved wife, Demi; their daughter, Kelly (Sidney) Crenshaw; sons James Canfield and Sean Canfield; his dear mother, Helen Canfield; siblings, Lynne Koss, Jeffery (Lynn) Canfield, Wendy (James) Brylewski; mother-in-law, Terri Decess; father-in-law, Gerald Beagle; also many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins and dear friends who join with the family in mourning his untimely death and giving thanks to God for his life among them.
A Funeral Mass will be held from St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford, Wednesday 11:30 AM. Father Manny Chircop to officiate. Burial Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford Tuesday from 2 - 9 PM. For further information, please phone 248.684.6645.
