Obituary for Helen K. Williams

Helen Katherine Williams was born in Boston in 1913. Her mother was from France and her father was from Ireland. She and her husband Clarence moved from Redford Township near Detroit to their farm in Highland/Milford in 1954. When Clarence died in 1965, Helen raised their six children living in their home on Lone Tree Road. She worked for the Michigan Highway Department and the Detroit Unemployment Office until she was 71, saying �working keeps you young�. She was a member St. Mary�s Catholic Church where she was a Lector and also a Lay Minister of the Eucharist. She was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Highland where she attended daily mass followed by an afternoon at the Highland Senior Center. Helen lived her Christianity, while at St. Mary�s she would pick up and drive those who were unable to drive to daily mass so they could attend. Helen also regularly visited those who were living at West Hickory Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by her sons: Harry, Jeffrey, and Richard of Bradenton, Florida; and her daughters: Clare Lynne Williams of Berkley, Michigan, Edith Ellen Williams of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Mary McBride of Scottsdale, Arizona. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Krista Lloyd of Highland, Michigan, Angela Baisley and Sarah Michaels, of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeffrey J., William, Richard Williams, and Alisha Geissman of Bradenton; and Joe, Doug and Sean McBride of Scottsdale, Arizona. Helen also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren, Caleb and Lucas Baisley of Jacksonville Fl, Gabriella Kasabasic of Highland, Michigan, Abigail Michaels of Jacksonville, Florida, Olivia Geissman and Bradley Williams of Bradenton, Florida and Conner and Cidney McBride of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Gathering for family and friends at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, Michigan, on June 8, 2009 from 6 until 9 pm, with the Rosary at 7 pm.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Road, Milford, Michigan at 11 am on June 9, 2009. Interment will follow at St. Mary�s Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
