Obituary for Helen Mary Perpich

Helen Mary Perpich, a lifelong resident of the Detroit area, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Providence Park Hospital in Novi. She was 87 years old. Born on December 23, 1929 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Joseph Krall and Mary Marincich, part of the Croatian-American community in Highland Park where Helen grew up and attended Highland Park High School, graduating in 1948. Soon after she met Frank Perpich, they fell in love and were married on November 15, 1952. They founded and worked together in the family business, All City Refrigeration. They raised a family, weathered the better and worse of life, cared for each other in sickness and health for 45 years, until his death in 1997. They enjoyed travel and dining out and wintered for years in their home on Marco Island where they enjoyed golfing, relaxing and the visits of their children and grand-children. Always proud of her Croatian heritage, Helen was active in the Zora Lodge #351 in Warren and was part of the Croatian Fraternal Union which sponsored the visit of a Tambura group from Croatia every year which would play for dances and shows throughout the community. The music, food, folklore and family customs of Croatia were real interests of Helen’s. She was dedicated to her family, always well informed on the family business for which she had served as Secretary for many years, and ever curious about the lives of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Stephen) Kreager of Northville, her sons, Kenneth (Virginia) Perpich and Martin (Kathleen) Perpich of Wolverine Lake; her grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Ashlee, Matthew, Tyler, Zachery, and Halle, and a great granddaughter, Taylor. Also, many extended family and dear friends who join with her family in mourning the death of a dear woman and giving thanks to God for her life among them.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty in Milford, on Sunday from 2-9PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home with gathering at 10 AM. Pastor Chris Cramer of Orchard Grove Community Church will officiate. Burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia.

Memorials may be sent to American Croatian Club "Zora" Lodge 351 - 32851 Ryan Road, Warren, MI 48092-4352
