Helen Z. Mondrush, a resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away in the care of her family in Milford, Michigan on May 16, 2009. She was 101 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Jane (Donald) Kutch of Sierra Vista, AZ; sons, Gustave M. (Lila) Mondrush Jr., of Spiceland, IN, Ronald L. (Pam) Mondrush of Milford, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Geneva Valentine of West Bloomfield, MI; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustave Michael Mondrush, Sr. (1992), parents, Joseph and Anna (Pilak) Zbieratzki, sisters, Mary (Marion) Podgorski, Josephine (John) Anderson, Stella (Frank) Mullin, brothers, John R. (Helen) Zbieratzki (Zbieracki), and Henry J. (Gertrude) Zbieratzki.
Helen received her Nursing Degree from Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, and her Registered Nurse Degree in 1950 from Wayne State University. She worked with the Dearborn Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan from 1943-1951, Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn from 1952-1956, the American Red Cross from 1951-1962, as an OB Supervisor with Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan from 1961-1962, as an Instructor of Nurses Aides Orientation of Nurses at Oakwood Hospital and as a private duty nurse from 1963 until her retirement to Mesa, Arizona in 1979. She was a member and past President of the Dearborn Organization of Registered Nurses, and a member and past President of the Women's Club of Mesa, Arizona from 1979-1999.
Services will be held privately, with interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
