Obituary for Henry Andy Cremonte

Henry Andy Cremonte, a resident of Milford and Gaylord, formerly of Detroit, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday May 22, 2011 at the age of 78.

Born in Detroit on June 20, 1932, the son of Ernasto & Teresa Maria (Marchessotti), Andy was raised in Detroit and eventually graduated from St. James Catholic High School in Ferndale. While at St. James, Andy starred in nearly every sport, especially baseball. A southpaw pitcher, he caught the attention of Major League scouts and was offered a contract with the St. Louis Browns near the time of graduation. Andy declined the offer from St. Louis, deciding to pursue his career interest in the concrete & cement business where his charming social skills and lasting first impressions formed the foundation for his companys solid reputation and work ethic. Through mutual friends, he met Alice DuLong, the love of his life, and began their relationship which led to their marriage on May 17, 1952. Mr. & Mrs. Cremonte made their longtime home in Milford, operating the family business and welcoming the generations of family growing around them. Beyond his reputation through his company, Mr. Cremonte was well known around town for establishing coffee groups at various diners and restaurants and seemed to be able to strike-up a memorable conversation with anyone. A man of great faith and strong conviction, he was less often the type to yield in silence if he believed in something.

In addition to Alice, his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Andy is survived by his sons, Tom (Therese), Steve and daughters, Kim (Tim) Wilhelm, Carol (Jim) Schneider; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a great grandchild expected. Several business acquaintances and dear friends join his family to mourn the loss of a great man while giving thanks for his life among them.

Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Pete.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 East Liberty, Milford, Thursday, May 26 at 11AM with Fr. Ron Anderson officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday 4-8PM. Memorials encouraged to Seasons Hospice For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
