Herb Tudor of Howell, MI, formerly of Commerce Twp., MI, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Herb was born on February 12, 1941, in Rossville, GA. He was the son of the late William Neely and Nannie Adeline Tudor, and the brother to the late William and Martin. He was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Centerline, Michigan.
On January 10, 1972 he met his soulmate, Shirley, and they married on April 26, 1975.They raised their family of three children, Mary, Herbert II, and Christina in Commerce Township. From that time on he lived every moment for his family and never took any day for granted. Due to an injury at work, Herb went through several back surgeries. In 1990 had a heart attack, which led to bypass surgery, and a stint in his heart. But even these health issues couldnt keep him down. He continued to enjoy life and supported his family in every way possible. He started his own video company and had the opportunity to meet Dennis Archer, former mayor of Detroit. He had a love and desire for classic cars and would often dream of being in the Woodward Dream cruise. He finally made it in 2006, with his 1963 Ford Falcon. In later years, he learned how to ballroom dance and really knew how to sweep his wife off her feet! Another dream came true when he finally took his wife on a cruise in 2007. Just when he was tripping the light fantastic, cancer struck and life changed. Herb battled for 10 months with brain and lung cancer, including having numerous surgeries and infections. He fought a battle for life. Let it be known this man wanted to be a survivor. He fought long and hard and would not give up knowing his wife and children were in the fight with him. The proudest moment during his illness was knowing his first grandchild was on the way.
Herb was a born again Christian in Jesus Christ. He knew the Lord walked with him side by side in every step he took in life. When it was time to meet the Lord, he was at peace and left us with this peace and His peace.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; loving children, Mary (Lance) Kistler, Herbert Tudor, II, Christina (Joseph) Higgins and many extended family members and dear friends. Funeral Services will be held from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Wednesday, November 12th at 11AM with Gene ONeill officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday 4-9PM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
