Obituary for Ida Giannandrea

Ida Giannandrea, a resident of Milford, passed away at Providence Park Hospital in Novi on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the age of 88.

Born in Cassino, Italy on May 24, 1925, Ida was the daughter of Michele & Rosa (nee D�Alessandreo) Rossi. She and her husband, the late Achille Giannandrea, made their home in Detroit where they raised their four children before moving to their longtime home in Milford.

To her children, Ida was #1 Mom. She enjoyed hosting many family get-togethers, arranging and cooking for as many as 30-40 people at times, and was known for making delicious traditional pastas and bread. Ida truly enjoyed seeing her family well fed with happiness, health and love. She considered her family to be proof of her greatest accomplishments and felt gratitude to have been a special part of the lives of Giannandrea grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed annual trips to visit her family back home in Italy. Both strong and graceful, Ida will be remembered dearly as a devoted wife, mother & grandmother who always put the needs of those around her before her own.

Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Achille in 1996.

She is survived by her loving children, Fernando (Maria) Giannandrea, Elvio Giannandrea, Remo (Josie) Giannandrea, Jo (Richard) Harrison; grandchildren, Roberto & Arin Giannandrea, Marisa Giannandrea, Gianni Giannandrea, Deni & Leanne Giannandrea, David & Cecilia Giannandrea, Christina & Christopher Sarkella; great grandchildren, Luella Giannandrea and Luca Giannandrea. Also survived by her extended family and dear friends.


Funeral Liturgy from St. Mary Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Rd., Milford, Friday 11 AM with Msgr. John Budde officiating. Entombment Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Thursday 2-9 PM with Rosary at 7 PM. Visitation will resume from the Church on Friday morning at 10:30 AM.
