Obituary for Jackie (Schoff/Russo) Portwood

With family at her side, Mrs. Jacqueline Schoff/Russo Portwood died Friday June 29, 2012 at her home in South Lyon, Michigan after battling cancer. She was 73 old.
Jackie Schoff/Russo Portwood was born September 21, 1938, in Lake Orion, Michigan to Delbert Eugene & Viola Rose Schoff. Jackie could accomplish anything she set her mind to, including raising seven children. Jackie is survived by her children, Denise, Tina, Michelle (Son In-law Will), Lisa, Tracy, John (Daughter In-law Lisa), and Lesli (Son in-law Booker); grandchildren, Joe, Frankie, Haely, Lindsi, Marcus, Daniel, Hunter, Logan, Luke and one great grandchild, Molly-Rose. Also survived by her sister, Adel Kiddo (brother In-law Dave) Allen and her brother, John (sister In-law Marcy) Schoff; her neighbors and dear friends.
One of Jackies strongest assets was the ability to build long standing relationships: She built these relationships w/ and open heart and an open mind and on the foundation of Trust, Love, and Forgiveness.
Jackie also wanted to recognize her extended family and friends/workplaces. Many of her closest friends at her time of passing were some of her first friends in life, some dating back to grade school and high school. She always found a way to keep in touch with so many friends; from Lake Orion, to Berkley, from Arizona to Traverse City, and to her home in South Lyon-they were all very important to her. Jackie's relationship with Tony & Linda Russo was very strong, not only were they family but they also became very close friends. The Bowerman families of Romeo, MI were a very important part of her life as well, as a child and up to the time of her passing. She loved to talk about the old times, as a kid playing around the apple orchards. Fond memories were made with the Baca family in Albuquerque, NM, and the Broccardo family in Livonia, MI. Jackie developed strong loving friendships from some of her long standing work places: Cornings Restaurant, Atrium & Bobbys, Oakland Hills Country Club, Windsong Apartments and AVIS. Jackie was always an inspiration to life, by writing poems and stories; many highly recognized and published. Jackies fondest joys came from spending time w/ her children and grandchildren. Her interests include singing, dancing, writing, and most importantly making everyone around her happy.
Jackies love for life and joy for laughter touched many lives; her home was always open and became a mainstay to family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Wednesday, July 11 at 11 AM. Friends may gather at 10 AM. Memorials may be made to Boys Town, BoysTown Nebraska/Iowa, 200 Flanagan Blvd, PO Box 6000, BoysTown, NE 68010, or Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Rd., Livonia, MI 48154-5010 For further information please phone 248-684-6645.

Some of Jackies famous sayings:

"Dont forget to Wish on a Robin"
"Dont ever get too old to laugh at yourself"
"Dont take life too seriously, April Fools Day should be a holiday"
"Treat others as you would want to be treated"
