Obituary for James Harry Gibson

James "Jim" Harry Gibson was born at his family home in Detroit, Michigan on April 2, 1940. He passed away at his home in Fenton, Michigan, on February 18, 2015 at the age of 74, surrounded by his beloved wife of 52 years, Gail and his three kids; Dawn, Jeff, and Tracy.

Jim was one of 5 brothers born to Elizabeth (nee Turnbull) and Roy Gibson: Roy, Bob, Jim, Tom, and Erick. His family also included four step�sisters: Edna, Elsie, Violet, and Isabel.

At the age of 18, Jim joined the Army. He was a proud member of the transportation corps. This experience led to a lifelong love of tinkering with cars. He especially loved restoring classic cars. At the time of his passing, he was restoring a '65 Ford Mustang and a '57 Ford Fairlane (Post).

Other activities Jim enjoyed were roadtrips with Gail; maintaining their beautiful property in Fenton; parties with family and friends; being a member of the Holly American Legion #149 where he was a member of the Honor Guard and a "chief cook�; and attending the endless sporting, dance, and music performances of his 7 grandchildren.

After Jim was discharged from the army, he briefly worked for Farmer Jack before landing a job with the Ford Motor Company. He started out at the glass factory in Detroit, then on to the Rouge plant before being transferred to the transmission plant in Livonia. In all, Jim spent 30 years working for, what he called, "Fo Mo Co" and remained a Ford man until the day he died.

Jim was and remains a role model to his surviving family. He was kind, loving, filled with humor, generous, and brave to the end.

In addition to his beautiful wife Gail, he is survived by his children Dawn (Chuck) Dittmar, Jeff (Kelly) Gibson, Tracy Dunlop; grandchildren; Camille, Emma, Drake, Cameron, Riley, Fiona and Moira. brothers Roy Gibson, Bob Gibson, Tom Gibson and Erick Anderson; step-sisters Edna, Elsie, and Violet.

Funeral Service from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM. The Rev. Henry A. Shafer to officiate. Burial and Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Friends may visit on Sunday from 4-9 PM.
