each stage of the grieving process.
James Michael Miaskowski, of Livonia and formerly Detroit, passed away in the loving care of his family on November 10, 2021. He was 75 years old.
Jim was a New Year's Eve baby, born to Stanley "Cookey" and Elizabeth (nee’Jacobs) Miaskowski on December 31, 1945. He joined older brother Robert and sister, Karen and spent his childhood in Detroit. Faith was an integral part of his upbringing with it remaining a central part of his life. He graduated from De La Salle Collegiate High School and went on to further his education at college. Before he could finish his degree, he went in to the Army and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War.
After his service in the war, Jim started working as production control at the AWT Plant where they did different types of stamps for the automotive plants. Thirty-three years ago, he met the love of his life, Angeline. Three different times he proposed until she finally agreed to marry him. He was persistent knowing from their first meeting that he would marry her and spend the rest of their lives together.
Jim and Angie shared a love of travel and after some prompting from Jim, Angie grew to love the many different cruises they were able to go on. Some of their favorite destinations were Alaska, Belize, Hawaii and hiking in Arizona. Another hobby that Jim loved to share with Angie was horticulture. He was called a master gardener by all that were blessed to see his gardens and had a rhododendron that rivaled all others! Another name that Jim was known by was a master griller. He excelled cooking on the grill with everything from salmon to grilled pork.
Jim’s love of family was abundantly evident and was known to treat all he met like family. He was a kind, gentle, sweet, loving soul with a main desire to help others achieve happiness. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline Divozzo; daughters, Kathryn (James) Gottschalk and Lindsay Miaskowski; step-children, Tony (Gina) Divozzo and Donna (Al) Zaleski; grandchildren, Jazlyn, Parker, Ava, Erica (AJ), Tony, Connor (Allie), Jane and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Reece and Giada; sister, Karen (George) Dina; special friends, Kevin (Tracy) McNeely, Tim and Linda, Mike Walsh; former wife, Linda Miaskowski and also many other dear friends and extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley "Cookey" and Elizabeth Miaskowski; and brother, Robert Miaskowski.
