Obituary for James W. Considine, Jr.

James W. Considine, Jr., a resident of Milford, formerly of Detroit, West Bloomfield and Highland, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 29, 2010. He was 72.
Born in Washington D.C. on May 3, 1938, Jim was the son of James and Carrie Considine. At the age of 12, his family moved to Michigan where Jim was enrolled into Nazareth Hall Military Academy in Grand Rapids, Ohio for his 7th and 8th grade years. Following the Academy, he attended the University of Detroit High School, later meeting Claire Kose, a student from Mercy High School who became the love of his life. On October 28, 1961 they would exchange vows at St. Scholastica Catholic Church and spend the next 49 years raising their family. As newlyweds they made their first home in Detroit until 1966 at which time they moved to Missouri. Three years later they returned to Michigan and made their home and raised their family in Detroit and West Bloomfield; finally settling in Milford in 1998. Jim began Considine Sales and Marketing in 1971 and built a successful business dealing in after-market parts to automotive businesses and the racing community. He was extremely grateful to enjoy working alongside his son.
Jim is remembered as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. A man of faith, he taught his family how to love and laugh, to care and support one another, and to set goals and high standards. He instilled strong work ethics and integrity by example. Whether it was having Gummi Bears and Lemon Head candy on hand, or playing games with his grandchildren, he knew how to make the times with everyone in his life fun and memorable.
In addition to Frances Claire (nee. Kose), his beloved wife of 49 years, Jim is survived by his daughters, Lisa Considine, Linda (Rick) Considine Poetker; son, James (Sharon) Considine, III; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Haan, Catherine Kilsdonk, Jane Lemon and Linda (Thomas) Fitzmaurice and several loving nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
