GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Joann Mary Dalton, 79, wife of Robert for 56 years, passed away on September 29, 2021.
Joann was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1942 to the late Frank and Anna Wegmann. She attended Immaculata High School in Detroit, Michigan before graduating from Marygrove College in Detroit. After spending a few years as an elementary teacher, Joann then worked as the Director of Religious Education for Church of the Holy Spirit in Highland Michigan for 23 years before retiring.
Faith, family, and travel. From the time she was young, attending a Catholic grade school, high school and college, and teaching others about the faith in religious education, Joann remained devout in her faith. She married Robert A. Dalton on July 10, 1965 and started a family, raising her children in the Catholic faith. Her love of travel and seeing the world with her family brought her great joy. She and Bob would travel with the kids in a motorhome all across the United States. That love of travel continued after retirement when they joined up with other convoy groups of motor homes, making lifelong friends along the way. Some of her favorite trips were an Alaskan caravan, attending Balloonfest in Albuquerque, New Mexico, seeing the Rose Bowl parade, and just visiting family along the way. She loved the Winnebago lifestyle.
Her zest for life and service to others touched the lives of many people. She and Bob were active with Habitat for Humanity, and in her free time, she even made sleeping mats for the homeless out of plastic shopping bags. She was always generous to others.
She was the consummate planner. Every vacation, trip, holiday gathering or family get together was always planned out to a tee. She loved decorating the house for the different seasons and holidays and planning the perfect holiday or birthday dinner for her family. Her attention to detail, devotion to her family, and strong faith, will be greatly missed by all who crossed her path.
Beloved wife of Robert for 56 years. Loving mother of Mary Kay Colaianne (Joe), Scott Dalton (Melissa), and Kim Cobb (Nathan). Devoted grandmother of Nicholas Colaianne, Adelaide Rutkin (Ryan), Amelia Cobb, Anthony Colaianne, Madeline Dalton, Noah Cobb, and Shane Cobb. Proud great-grandmother of Ashton Rutkin and Artimus Rutkin. Dear sister of Frances Herbert (late Gerald) and the late Robert Wegmann.
