Obituary for John E. Kadwell

John E. Kadwell, a longtime resident of Highland, died at his cottage in Kalkaska on June 19, 2016 at the age of 70.

John was born on October 15, 1945 in Kitchener, Ontario to Edward and Hazel (nee. Wuest) Kadwell. John moved to the United States with his family when he was four years old and graduated from Cooley High School in 1963. Following high school, John was proud to serve in the United States Air Force where he worked as an avionics equipment mechanic for five years. John married his high school sweetheart, Connie Seizert, on March 4, 1967. John worked at General Motors as a performance and test driver until his retirement in in 2001. For over forty five years, John and Connie have made their home in Highland where they raised their two children Shannon and Joseph.

John enjoyed antiquing and collecting oddities from arrowheads and fossils to samurai swords. John was a volunteer at the Warbirds of Glory Museum where he spent many hours with friends rebuilding a B-25 engine.

For the last six years, John loved to spend the summers at his cottage in Kalkaska where he could entertain family and visitors, enjoy the peace of nature and the many attractions of Traverse City.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Connie (nee. Seizert) Kadwell; daughter, Shannon (Kevin) Peshkopia; son, Joseph Edward Samuel (Corinna) Kadwell; grandchildren, Cody Edward Samuel Kadwell and Madison Star Kadwell; brother, Phillip (Debbie) Kadwell; sister, Janet (Mike) Daly; nieces and nephews, Matt (Lora) Kadwell, Lauren, Melanie and Steve Lett; father-in-law, Rev.
