Obituary for John G. Sanderson

John G. Sanderson, a resident of White Lake Township passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on October 24, 2013 at the age of 61.
Born on May 25, 1952 in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania, the son of Vivian Mawn Crum and the late John Crum. He grew up in Emporium, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Cameron County High School. Following high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served five years on the Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Seal Team. After serving with the Navy, he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he graduated with his Masters in Business Administration. It was in Virginia Beach that John met Sharon Harper. They wed on September 18, 1993, the birthday of John's son Justin. They were later blessed with the birth of their daughter, Alexandra.

John began his career with AlliedSignal in Virginia, which later became Bendix Corp. and finally Siemens Automotive. He was transferred to Auburn Hills, Michigan in 1995 and in 2000 was appointed President and CEO of Siemens VDO Automotive before retiring in May of 2008. In March of 2009 John returned to work as a Group President with Borg Warner Inc. in Auburn Hills. He retired on December 31, 2012.

John was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, and fishing from an early age. He passed this appreciation on to his children, niece and nephews.

John and Sharon achieved their goal of building a log home along the AuSable River.. They loved gathering the family together for vacations and holidays. In 2011, they were honored to host their nephew's wedding at this home.

In addition to Sharon, his beloved wife of twenty years, he is survived by his son, Justin; his daughter, Alexandra; mother, Vivian Crum; sister, Kathy (Bill) Haley; sister-in-law, Janice (Steve) Bly; nephews and nieces, Matt (Emily) Haley, Katie (Eric Janson) Haley, Sam and Zach Bly; his Godson, Drew Plisco and many former colleagues and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins St., White Lake, on Monday, October 28, at 11AM. Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Sunday, October 27, 1-7PM. A Scripture Service, followed by open eulogy, will be held on Sunday at 4PM.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Anglers of the Au Sable or to the International Waldenstrom�s Macroglobulinemia Foundation.
